WOW! Cake Decorating Competition
Brought to you by Lakefield
3rd March 2010
Theme - Olympic Sports
What is the WOW! Cake competition? It is a novelty cake decorating competition.
For 11-22 year old girls. The aim is to create a cake that both looks and tastes good.
How long is the competition? Competitors can arrive at 2.15 to prepare. The competition
begins at 3.00pm and will last 2 hours. At 5.00pm the judges will choose the winners.
What is provided? Lakefield provides you with an oblong cake measuring 17.5in (44cm)
by 13in (37cm) and a plastic apron to wear to protect your clothes.
What can I bring? You need to organise what you will use dur-ing the competition. This includes all your equipment: knives, rolling pins, foil paper, trays, etc. Remember to think of what you need for the cake decorations: icing sugar, colourings, rolling icing, any chocolates etc you wish to put on the cake. You are allowed to use readymade icing if you wish.It is also a good idea to think of how you are going to carry your cake home.
How many people can be in a team? You can work on your own or you can work with a friend. Teams will be entered in the group according to the eldest member.
What happens if I forget my ingredients? Unfortunately Lakefield Cannot provide any ingredients for you as we do not keep any ex-tras. There is a supermarket down the road but you will not get any extra time.
What will I have to do? You get to use your imagina-tion by designing and creating a cake that is suited for this year’s theme. The aim is to use as much of the cake as possible when creating your master-piece.
Am I allowed to cut it? You can use it any way you like some entrants simply cover the cake with icing and add on decorations. Others cut and shape the cake for their creation.
Does it all have to be edible? Yes, one of the rules is that all decorations must be edible.
Can I prepare any decorations before I arrive? You can colour your icing if you do not wish to buy it coloured already and cut out any templates and organ-ise your plans but you CANNOT prepare any of your decorations beforehand if you are modelling any of the pieces.
Can my parents watch? For the first hour and a half your family and friends are able to walk around and see what you and everyone else is doing, during the last half an hour they go and have tea so you can concentrate on finishing your cake and tidying up.
How do I enter? Fill in the application form and return it to Lakefield with £7 entry fee before the closing date which is the 27th February 2012.
